In a major step toward streamlining international student support, US EdTech company Terra Dotta has unveiled ISSS Next Generation (Next Gen)- a comprehensive platform designed to help U.S. institutions manage visa compliance and student services in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

Launched in June 2025, the platform provides end-to-end lifecycle support for international students, from admission and visa processing to post-graduation employment stages like OPT, STEM OPT, H-1B, and PERM. Already adopted by the largest J-1 visa sponsor in the U.S., the platform is being rolled out across Terra Dotta’s 275 institutional partners nationwide.

“Amid budget constraints and growing regulatory pressures, administrators are expected to work faster, more accurately, and with fewer resources,” said Travis Ulrich, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Solutions at Terra Dotta.
“Compliance has always mattered but never as critically as it does now.”

The platform directly interfaces with the SEVIS database, enabling international officers to access real-time termination data and proactively support students who may be at risk. This feature addresses challenges that arose during recent DHS enforcement actions, when many students were unaware their visa records had been terminated until checking the system themselves.

Ben Psillas, CEO of Terra Dotta, emphasized the urgency behind the platform’s development:
“There is a real need for innovative, reliable, and automated tools designed with non-technical staff in mind. This system was co-developed with international education professionals to ensure it’s both user-friendly and forward-looking.”

Next Gen also unifies student and scholar services with employment-based visa workflows marking the first time institutions can manage academic, cultural, and post-study transitions in one platform. Students are supported not only with document uploads and visa processing, but also receive guidance on U.S. academic life and cultural adjustment.

The platform includes automated alerts for key deadlines, such as updating employment information for OPT and STEM OPT students a task that, if missed, can lead to termination and even deportation.

“After all the hard work to earn a degree and secure employment, it’s critical that students don’t lose status over an avoidable compliance issue,” said Ulrich.
“This platform helps protect those futures.”

With growing uncertainty around U.S. immigration enforcement, Terra Dotta aims to equip institutions with future-ready tools that replace outdated legacy systems.

“The world has changed, and so must the technology we use to support students,” Ulrich added. “Next Gen reflects that evolution.”

As international education continues to prove its resilience, this new platform is positioned to help institutions and students navigate an increasingly challenging landscape with confidence and clarity.
